My name is Eva Sierra. I am originally from Madrid, where I obtained my BSc in Physiotherapy and my MSc in Manual Therapy.

I worked as a clinical physiotherapist and a lecturer before enrolling in a Joint PhD between Griffith University, Australia, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I spent one year of my PhD in Amsterdam and three years in Gold Coast and Brisbane.

My research interests include pain and neuropathies. Having worked as a clinician made me realise how poorly understood neuropathies are, specifically, diabetic neuropathy. My aim is to improve the knowledge of the mechanisms behind diabetic neuropathy by broadly assessing the nerve function and structure. A better understanding of diabetic neuropathies will facilitate a more targeted treatment for these patients.
